The hustle and bustle of the holiday season has come and gone, but just because the holidays are over doesn’t mean the fun has to end. From the state’s most iconic ski runs to mountain town adventures, we’ve come up with a list of Colorado’s must-do winter activities to cure your post-holiday blues.

For the Mountain Enthusiasts

From double black diamonds to bunny slopes, Colorado’s high country is well known for its excellent skiing and provides adventures for athletes of varying skill levels — all set against the stunning winter wonderland of Colorado’s mountain towns. Skiing isn’t all that the likes of Aspen and Breckenridge have to offer, so be sure to check out their unique winter festivals and fine dining options after a big powder day.

For the Non-Skiers

What if you don’t ski or snowboard? Don’t worry, Colorado winters offer fun activities to suit all sensibilities. For a memorable family outing or a romantic date night, try a cozy sleigh ride, complete with warm drinks, dinner, and stargazing, of course! If horses aren’t your cup of tea, trade the sleigh for a snowmobile and gain access to remote forest trails, vast meadows, and unparalleled views. And if you’re not able to travel into the mountains for the weekend, downtown Denver is less than 40 minutes away from our growing community and features free ice skating now through February.

Weekend Adventures

If you’d rather stay out of the cold as much as possible, Colorado’s mountain towns are also the perfect spot to cozy up with a warm cup of joe, experience the local art scene, and explore the most popular eats around. From touring tree sculptures in Sterling to soaking in Steamboat’s famous hot springs, each locale has its own vibrant character, just waiting to be explored.

Whether you’re hanging out at 14,000 feet or staying close to Castle Pines, you’ll find winter activities of all kinds for you, your friends, and family to enjoy. No matter which adventure you choose, we hope that The Canyons will become your home base in the near future.
