Many of you may already know Joey, who has been working at The Exchange™ Coffee House for about a year now. After showing tremendous customer service skills and exemplary attention to detail, we’re thrilled to announce that he’s taking on a shiny new role! As Club Operations Manager, you can expect to see Joey even more as he seamlessly orchestrates all the little behind-the-scenes details that keep the coffee house running without a hitch. With Joey at the helm, we’re certain that The Exchange™ will continue to be your favorite locale for coffee, community, and friendly faces at The Canyons™.
To help you get to know Joey a little better we’ve asked him to answer a few questions about himself.
What’s your favorite thing about working at The Exchange™?
The people, without question! Whether it’s our staff or the clientele we serve, there’s a genuine communal sense that permeates throughout The Exchange™.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
The growth — be it myself, my staff, the neighborhood, or the amenities. I’m lucky enough to be here at an exciting time for The Canyons™ where I can help mold what this neighborhood is to become.
Where’s your favorite place in Colorado?
I’m a big skier and I would have to say my happy place is the Blue Sky Basin portion of Vail Mountain. There is nothing like a bluebird weekday on some of the best runs in the country.
Do you have any secret talents?
I grew up playing the piano, so I can find my way around the ivory. This may be a little more out there, but at one point I considered going for the record for the longest consecutive time hula hooping. That was until I found out it was over three days long at the time. I believe it’s more than five days consecutively now.
If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
As a sommelier, Kevin Zraly’s “Windows on the World” would be in the running but the hospitality professional in me has a soft spot for Anthony Bourdain and “Kitchen Confidential.”
What’s the best movie you’ve seen in the past year?
“The Captain” documentary on Derek Jeter made me almost like the Yankees… almost.
Do you have a favorite pastry at The Exchange™?
I may be stretching the term pastry, but it’s got to be the energy bites.
How do you take your coffee?
With a pair of sugars.
