Celebrate Independence Day in Castle Pines

Published: June 28, 2022

America’s birthday brings plenty of festive opportunities to relax and unwind with family, friends, and neighbors. Fortunately, the tranquil oasis of your home at The Canyons™ is the perfect location to host your own Independence Day celebration. If you feel like venturing out, our special community is only a short drive away from lots of family-friendly activities in the surrounding slopes and plains of the beautiful Front Range.

Fun close to home

If you don’t feel like leaving the comfort of your gorgeous neighborhood, relax at home with a picnic in the oasis of your own yard or in the shade of a historic oak tree at Wild Oak Park. Meet a friend for a cookie and a cool frosty drink at The Exchange™, our very own coffee house and information hub. If you prefer a more active holiday afternoon, our community features over fifteen miles of paved and dirt trails — so lace up your hiking boots and get moving!

Paddleboarding

Cool off from the July heat in the cool retreat of Rueter-Hess Reservoir, only five miles (or a quick ten-minute drive) from your front door. Registration is required for entry for weekend paddleboarding days, and will open on June 24th. Don’t have your paddleboarding gear? No problem! Colorado SUP Sports offers a wide variety of equipment available for rental including paddleboards, flotation devices, and paddles. If stand up paddleboarding isn’t your thing, this aquatic paradise is also open to canoeing and kayaking. Everyone is sure to find an activity they love!

Live Music

On Sunday, July 3, the city of Castle Pines is hosting a summer spectacular called Summerstage featuring food trucks, activities for the kids, and some sweet ‘90s jams performed live (courtesy of Nothing But Nineties)! In lieu of fireworks, this event will feature a drone light experience, complete with one hundred drones performing a ten-minute aerial show featuring patriotic designs. The event is free and will kick off at 5:30 pm at Elk Ridge Park, less than three miles from your home base.

Shopping at The Outlets at Castle Rock

If retail therapy is more of your leisure style, relax and find a new festive outfit at the Outlets at Castle Rock, located a ten minute drive from your home. Shop for activewear and accessories for low prices at stores like Adidas and Asics, or classy and stylish everyday clothes from J. Crew, Gap, or Express. If you’re looking for a meal after a hard day of shopping, spice things up with samosas and curries at Zaika Indian or keep it healthy with salads and soups from MAD Greens. The Outlets at Castle Rock will remain open on Independence Day from 10 am -6 pm, so you can be back home and styling in time for the fireworks.

No matter your holiday plans, The Canyons™ offers the perfect springboard for holiday fun. Get those red, white, and blue flags ready — we can’t wait to see what you get up to!
